WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT.

BASIC PLOT

CAST
Angela Basset as Tina Turner
laurence Fishbourne as Ik Turner

FACT
Jennifer Lewis who plays Tinas mother in the film is actually only two years older than Angela Bassett. and Tinas first child was not with ik but with the Raymond Hill a local saxophone player. And in the film the children are portrayed in the wrong ages.

THOUGHTS AND BEST BITS
Have to love the the old scene with Tina and Ik fighting in the back of a limo. in part you want Tina to get revenge and kick his ass. The scene is funny in ways but just brill to watch very powerful stuff.

The film is made in such a way that it intrigues you with the story and at the same time is easy to follow making for a good flick, starting with a young Anna Mae when her family leave her for reasons we never really get to know. Then arriving in St.Louis years later and at this point we have Angela Bassett as the now teenage Anna Mae. Shortly after Anna Mae gets discovered by Ik Turner in a local nightclub and joins the band as the lead singer. Then having Anna Mae change her name to Ttina as we follow her career through the fifties sixties and seventies. And during this time when see Ik turn from a smooth gentleman to an abusive husband. And then watch as Tina struggle to survive. Then Tinas escape from Ik as she tries start her life and career over.

With Angela Bassett playing Tina brilliantly. Not only with the little moves as she dances but also the way she portrays tina turner, and for me this has to be old Larry Fishburnes best film. Just playing Ik so well with the typical nice guy charm then turning to a drug addict and getting abusive.

With some pretty good directing. Not making the story to complex but keeping to the simple parts of Tinas life making for a great film. With a shocking yet truthful look at Tinas life. This does make for a good film to watch but has almost no re watch value as after you have seen it you almost wont forget it. But catch is some night.

The film is sort of gripping and good to see Tinas life and how she started out. But the film like most true stories does not stick with correct years places or even people. As Tina actually got discovered a few years before the film says and not having her fall for the actual man that she has her first ever child with. And with dates and bands and even people mixed up all over the film surely the simple thing to do was ask the damn woman the films based on. Although the film is good and gripping its sort of lacking in emotion and feeling maybe intentionally. But for me lacks a little something. But for this i blame the director.

Angela bassett playing Tina from sixteen until shes fourty four haha what a fucking age gap. And looking like shes about to try out for the olympics and not a film not sure why shes so jacked up Tina never looked like that ever. In some scenes if you blink you will think someone has changed the channel and your now watching Kelly Holmes in celebrity come dancing i mean what the fucks with her arms looking so buff Tina Turner was slim even nice but never a fucking hundred meters olympian. But all in still worth a watch.
