THOUGHTS AN BEST BITS
I remember watching this as a kid with my dad on some random saturday afternoon and it seemed at the time like some epic movie about soldiers on horse back ridding into some legendary battle but the flicks really more of a Tony Curtis movie its really for the most about his character falling in love and shit. Its about Taras Bulba and his people sure but thats the main story the real drive of the film is Curtis as Andrei and him getting sent off to some kinda of school in Poland and then he falls in love and its got a hint of Titanic (1997) to it well switch that lol but yeh its the poo scrub and the rich chic romeo and juliet style falling in love and then shit kicks off with some rich brother who clearly wants to fuck her i should point out Curtis is playing Yuls Yul what kinda names that shit any ways hes playing his kid and this is even funnier that Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade cause Curtis is fucking 5 years younger than Yul i mean come on hollywood it seems fine at the start the wide shots out doors and they all playing they age up Yul and have him grey and act older and Tony to be fair acts young like a 20s kid to some degree but the dudes fucking 37 here haha hes acting like hes a kid getting sent of to school in his early 20s and hes got old man bod when shit kicks off and him and his younger brother get into a fight with the rich kids and then they all run off and shit kicks off they go to war and its kinda of got a nice build up to it story wise slow at first but its leading into an epic war build up and it falls real flat they march with huge armies on horseback and they get to the fight and its kinda over in seconds and they hit a stalemate outside the castle and bla. Its fun for sure its old though i mean if any scene has a close up on a horse its the guys chest up on a stage in doors and its scetchy looking as fuck haha but thats what they had so you gotta let it go this is all made pre Tom Hanks going to space in Apollo 13 haha this is made 7 years before they go to space so you gotta cut it some slack.
Directing wise well this guys a fucking director hes made more than a dozen movies by this point the last of them being Cape Fear (1962) The Guns Of The Navarone (1961) and Ice Cold In Alex (1958) this guys a real director old school is he the worlds best no but hes the firest generation of real directors that pave the way for the likes of Spielberg Cameron and Fincher and so on to watch and learn from and surpass ok maybe he losses his path one day and makes a couple of planet of the apes movies. The writers Waldo Salt haha fuck me old Waldo wrote the likes of Serpico (1973) and karl Tunberg he put out Ben Hur (1959) so these guys can write and had a good chance but its the 60s man so they aint seen The Matrix (1999) yet haha they tried.
Cast wise well Tony boy is good and old Yuk does a great job but hes kinda put aside for a chunk of time in the movie the chic in the movie that Tony boy falls for is the lovely Christine Kaufmann and old Tony dumped his wifey to go fuck and marry this little dime piece left the poor wife and baby Jamie Lee Curtis she musta had some ass on her lol. As for the rest of them well is all extras and one liner folks just doing what ever.
The movies fun this is one of those sunday afternoon at new years movies that comes on and your mum and dad know it and the actors in it unlike if you slap on Netflix and its all whos he and whats a Nufllux lol. Catch it some day if its on tv and chill with some doritos and chill. Sure its about some legendary war that went on but they place very little on it or about it more bluff and show than epic battles hobbit style but for a free movie on neflix and a film made before my fucking mum and dad were born whos bitching.
